Surviving Two Weeks and a Sponge Bath

Well Li'l Miss is two weeks and 3 days old and since I am still cognizant of my surroundings and she is already almost a pound over her birth weight, I must conclude that we are surviving okay. As of this morning, she has already outgrown two of her newborn sleepers. They only stay curled up and with their little chicken legs for so long. Sigh. There is a little tear in the corner of my eye.

We have even survived her first, actually thorough, sponge bath.

While this tends to be a big first among a baby's milestones, I think it's a bigger one for Mom. I actually managed to get her clean, smelling good, and dressed again without causing her any bodily harm. Okay, so Grandma helped, but still, I'm all for little victories at this point. I may even shower today. Maybe. Or maybe tomorrow.

I love it when you can bathe them in the kitchen sink.

Eh, showers for new Moms are over rated...but baby baths, nothing like a baby bath.

Could she be prettier? (No.) And she is looking so old! No ball of newborn indeed. She's a young lady, and clean to boot. All too often these days I'm taking a wipy to my baby's face and head and following up with yummy lotion. (It fools people all the time, trust me. Just don't forget the finger jam or you're busted.) Bathing newborns is awkward for me. And I'm with Emily on showers being over-rated for moms. I'm convinced part of the smell my baby recognizes about me is the lack of a shower. He likes it:)
She is seriously cute though. And good luck with those green eyes. Green eyes rule!

Whew! I cried reading your birth story, what a woman you are! Lillian is ADORABLE! what a yummy baby. I want to nibble her cheeks, then her little nose.

I love that you are reading NT with your baby:) Tonight I read aloud to Miles and he was riveted. He must be very spiritual.
