Ok, so I finally read Twilight this week. I always come at these "must-read" types very late because I like to pretend that I came upon them myself, not that I'm jumping on the band wagon (doesn't make much sense I know, but whatever). I know I'm among fans, so I must tread carefully, but I have to say I was kind of over it by the middle of the book. I mean, yeah, of course I was hooked and all and couldn't put it down, yada, yada, but I found it all just a little over the top for my taste. I mean, did we really need to be reminded that often how gorgeous Edward was? It was almost like the book was saying, "Are you imagining Edward now? Well you're not imagining him good enough!" And I also have to admit that I just didn't find Bella's character to be unusual or complex enough to have been the love interest of Edward after almost a hundred years. (By the way, we named our new kitten Bella a while back, having no idea that was Stephenie Meyer's heroine. I'm a bit bitter by that!). Anyway, yes, I enjoyed it, but I was fine when it was over too. Are the next two worth it? What do ya think?

The next two are pretty much more of the same, so if you didn't really enjoy the first, I wouldn't bother with the other two. I myself did enjoy the complete silly simpleness of the books. what can I say, sometimes I need an out, without much to concentrate on,and the books were that. I do agree with your comments however. I think Bella's character was way underdone and to simple, and Edwards was over the top perfection. Way unrealistic. However, I remind myself that it was written for teenage girls.
I have started reading all the newbery childrens books, and it has been fun. There are so many good books out there! So, next time you read a good one, let me know.
Love ya
Meg-- you and I are thinking alike-- we must have just finished it at the same time. I totally agree. I think I am out for reading the next books. I can respect the fact that most people like them, just not for me I guess.
Hi Megan. Is your cat a Vampire?
Hmmm, my cat does seem slightly bloodthirsty at times. But he can't play the piano and doesn't have a crooked smile--I guess not then.
I agree with Jessica. They are about the same, and in fact, you will probably be more and more annoyed at Bella being so special to him, as I agree about her being not super-strong or complex or--anything. However, if you are bored you should read on bc things get interesting with Jacob Black...and that one's a little more do-able, if you're ok with warewolves.
I agree with you completely. It really annoys me that Bella continually lies to her father and that Mr. Perfect stays in her room every night....so why have I read all three? I don't know but I'll probably read #4 when it comes out--can't really figure out the appeal.
